Help us rethink engineering & construction.

Morreon is an AI-native engineering & project management company delivering end-to-end energy & industrial infrastructure projects: battery storage, EV & e-truck charging, grid & substation work, solar & onshore wind, with adjacent data centers & manufacturing. Our angel round is closed & we're ramping up. These are our strategic first hires: a Senior Technical Engineer to build Anchor, the AI system our engineers run every project on, plus a Founder's Associate. And if nothing below fits but you believe in the mission, there's a role for that too.

Why Morreon

What every role here comes with.

The same standard package across every open role.

Early involvement, real ownership

Build a discipline or a product surface from scratch, reporting directly to a founder.

Transparent, fair VSOP

4-year vesting with a 1-year cliff. Full details shared openly during the interview process.

30 days of vacation

And a culture that expects you to actually take them, with the founders leading by example.

Flexible & remote work

Work from home, or use a covered co-working desk if you'd rather not. Cologne HQ if you want a base.

L&D budget, protected time

Employee development is a must for us, not a nice-to-have, so the time to use it is protected too.

Relocation & visa support

Where applicable, so the right hire isn't blocked by paperwork.

A freelance-to-permanent ramp

Start part-time as a freelancer & convert into a permanent role, at a pace that works for both sides. Doesn't apply to Senior Technical Engineer or Founder's Associate, which start full-time from day one.

Top-tier hardware & AI tooling

Including access to Anchor, our in-house AI system, from day one.

Open roles

Three roles, three kinds of bet.

A Senior Technical Engineer builds Anchor, the AI system our engineers run every project on. A Founder's Associate works whatever's on fire that week, directly with the founders. And one role is open to anyone who's convinced by the mission.

Product & engineering

The AI system our engineers run every project on. English is the working language, so this one is English-only.
💻

Senior Technical Engineer

Own Anchor end to end, & build it yourself for the first stretch.

EN onlyRemote, EuropeFull-time

We've closed our angel round & are building the product team behind Anchor, the AI system our engineers run every project on. As Senior Technical Engineer you own that system end to end, and for the first stretch you're the one building it.

What you'll do

  • Own Anchor end to end: architecture, delivery, release discipline & production reliability across web, API & background workers.
  • Write the code. For the first stretch the engineering team is you, our AI Engineer & the CPTO. Expect to be shipping production code most days. This is not a role you can do from a roadmap.
  • Make the architecture calls & live with them in production. You review the pull requests, and there is nobody above you to catch a bad decision before it ships.
  • Hire & lead the team when the time comes, realistically six to twelve months in. You'll define the bar, because you'll have been the one holding it.
  • Partner closely with product & our discipline leads: they own what gets built; you own whether it's buildable, how it's built, & what it costs to keep running.
  • Shape our build-vs-buy decisions on the stack around Anchor: CAD/BIM interfaces, IFC exchange, third-party APIs.

What you bring

  • 5+ years building software products, including 2+ leading a team, with genuine architecture ownership.
  • You've shipped & operated a product in production, not a prototype handed to someone else. You've carried the pager for your own code.
  • Depth in a modern TypeScript stack: Node/Fastify, React, Postgres, job queues, cloud deployment.
  • You've used LLMs in production & hold an opinion on where they earn their place, & where they're the wrong tool sold well.
  • Hands-on builder, not a manager who stopped coding, not a consultant, not someone who oversaw the work.
  • Fluent English: it's our working language & our team is international. German is good to have, not a requirement.
  • Not a fit: pure engineering managers, agency or consultancy delivery leads, or anyone who needs a finished spec before they can start.

Founder's Office

Work directly with the founders on whatever the business needs most. Available in English & German.
🎯

Founder's Associate

Work directly with the founders, & turn ambiguity into decisions.

EN & DECologne / BerlinFull-time

We're hiring our Founder's Associate on an accelerated timeline: a highly ambitious generalist who works directly with the founders on whatever the business needs most that week. No two weeks look the same, but expect a mix of strategy, operations, fundraising support, & pressure-testing the plan before a founder walks into the room.

What you'll do

  • Work day to day with Alex, Jakob & Frank on the highest-priority problem, whatever it is that week: a fundraising deck, a hiring decision, a client negotiation, an internal process that's broken.
  • Own analysis that shapes real decisions: market sizing, competitive research, pricing, unit economics, hiring plans, board materials.
  • Project-manage cross-functional initiatives end to end, chasing the details so a founder doesn't have to.
  • Sit in on client & investor conversations, prepare the founders going in, & follow up on what needs to happen after.
  • Build the systems & processes an early-stage company doesn't have yet, & hand them off once they're running.

What you bring

  • 1-4 years at a top-tier strategy consultancy (McKinsey, BCG, Bain or similar) or in a founder's-associate/chief-of-staff-style role at a fast-growing startup.
  • Genuinely high ambition: you see this as a launchpad into a senior operating or founding role, not a stepping stone into more consulting.
  • Structured problem-solving under ambiguity: you turn "figure this out" into a clear recommendation without hand-holding.
  • Excellent written & spoken German & English; you'll be in the room for both investor & client/authority conversations.
  • Comfortable hearing "no" & moving straight to the next priority; a short list of confirmed wins beats a long list of started projects.
  • Immediate availability is a strong plus. We need to fill this fast.
Apply for this role If you want to be in the room where the decisions get made, not just hear about them after, get in contact.

Open to anyone

Not tied to a discipline, not tied to product or engineering. Available in English & German.

Unexpected Awesome Person

Apply if you like the mission, even if nothing above fits.

EN & DEOpen scope

"Didn't find your role above, but still think we'd be lucky to have you?"

This isn't a role tied to one discipline; it's for the person who doesn't fit a box above but who we'd regret not talking to. As Unexpected Awesome Person, you make the case for yourself.

What you'll do

  • Something not yet defined on this page: you help us figure out where you add the most value, together with the founders.
  • Bring a skill, a track record or a way of thinking we don't have yet, & show us where it matters for what we're building.
  • Work closely with the founding team early on, where everyone's remit is wider than their title.

What you bring

  • Genuine conviction in the mission: you like why we exist, not just that we're hiring.
  • Evidence you're exceptional at something: a track record, a body of work, a project you built or led, in or outside engineering & construction.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: no job description to hide behind, no team built yet to onboard you.
  • Fluent English; German is a plus given where we operate.
  • A specific, honest answer to "why Morreon, why you," not a generic cover letter.
